Toshihiko Tanaka is an actor, film director, and the representative of No Saint. & Bloom Co., Ltd.
During his university years, he studied business at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in the United States. After graduating, he worked for Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation which is one of Japan’s leading companies. However, a career shift led him to pursue acting, and he accumulated experience primarily on stages. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic sparked his interest in filmmaking, prompting him to teach himself the skills of cinematography and editing.
His debut feature film, "Rei" (2024), where he played a crucial role as well as serving as the writer and director, received critical acclaim, winning the Tiger Award for Best Film at International Film Festival Rotterdam. This marked a significant milestone in his debut in the film industry. Currently, he is working on his second and third films, “Shumari” and another set in Hokkaido, aiming to complete what he calls the "Hokkaido Trilogy."
His distinctive artistic style involves emotionally portraying the contrast between the beauty of nature and the darker aspects of human nature.
